Description and Purpose of the Certificate

Revelation Seminary has designed a learning and orientation program for future candidates who will serve as Commissioned Pastor (Article 23) of the Christian Reformed Church of North America (CRCNA). This program is intended to prepare new church planters in the State of Florida and in other areas where the student can access the online course. It is structured to teach and train in both theological and practical areas. This training is our priority as a Seminary in order to expand the Kingdom of God with Christ-centered and solid church plantings. We will use all the necessary resources for good academic, theological and practical training and preparation, covering the academic, biblical, and eligibility requirements for the office of Commissioned Pastor of our denomination (CRCNA). We depend on the Bible as our highest authority, the only rule of faith and conduct, and we embrace the doctrinal teachings of the Fathers of the Reformation with the purpose of living Christian lives that find their highest expression in service, love of Christ and neighbor, so that through their testimonies they may glorify God. The program contains eleven courses, which will be offered in twelve months. The program in its entirety will have 30 credits. The teachers who will teach the courses have academic and theological preparation at the master's level, specifically in regard to reformed hermeneutics and relevant experiences that allow them to teach each course.

Certificado teológia Reformada (Lucas 10)

General Objectives

  • Study and learn the history of the denomination (CRCNA) to know our historical theological foundations and solid Christian doctrines to identify who we are and what we believe.

  • Learn about the ecclesiastical government of the CRCNA that helps us serve God and lead the life of the church and its leaders in an appropriate and orderly manner according to biblical standards. The church as the body of Christ must learn to choose its leaders to make various decisions and understand that the Constitution of the CRCNA is subordinate to the creeds and confessions and the same to the eternal word of God.

  • Learn to read and interpret the Bible from God's perspective. Taking into account the Christ-centered unity of all the Scriptures as something imperative for our correct study of the Word, understanding that both the Old and the New Testament speak to us of Jesus and his redemptive work, and how the history of Redemption is biblically connected to the Covenant of Grace.

  • We believe that pastoral training is not limited to theological and doctrinal areas, but also to emotional and psychological preparation regarding pastoral care. There are various relevant areas in the ministry and certain challenges that we must face. Therefore, since the gospel is of vital importance in ministerial life, the appropriate application of the gospel is the help in any difficulty that may arise in our walk with Christ and in ministerial work.

  • Regarding pastoral training, we as a Seminary see ourselves in the responsibility of making prospective planters see that leaders, humanly, have weaknesses and imperfections, but that God still uses them for His Glory, and that His power is always manifested despite weaknesses. We are committed to educating new planters on the importance of recognizing and facing errors to strengthen leadership in ministerial work, and as sinners, in the process of growth and sanctification, they reach the liberating experience in Christ and put all their trust in the God who called them by His grace.

  • To teach students that the pastoral call is not a skill, but an internal call that God makes to our hearts. It is vitally important to know that, along with the call, God is the one who gives the guidelines for the ministry. He shows the vision and the same conceives in the leader the passion that keeps him alive and fruitful in the work of the entrusted ministry.

  • To be able to teach new planters that expository preaching is of primary importance in the ministry. That, when exposing a biblical passage, being faithful to the text and context, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, should be our goal and priority. The hermeneutics and exegesis of the historical, literary and grammatical contexts of the Bible will maintain its content and form, resulting in a doctrinally correct sermon and as a consequence a church of sound doctrine.

  • To train leaders who love their community and serve it. To train them so that they can present the gospel in a practical and effective way, contextualizing the sermon and maintaining the purity of the gospel.

  • Training new planters so that they can form new leaders, in order to do the work of integral discipleship with believers, this being of utmost importance. Jesus in (Matthew 28) commands us to make disciples and it is the great commission that we have as leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ.

Learning Application

Upon completion of these courses, the student will have experienced:

  • A transformation as a result of being exposed to the truths of the gospel. In turn, you will notice spiritual and doctrinal growth. • The ability to articulate the gospel in a simple and practical way to your community and you will be able to present the word of truth in love, to all those who ask you for an explanation with reference to your faith and hope in Jesus.

  • The conception of identity and purpose in Christ well defined, that will lead you to make accepted decisions regarding your ministry.

  • The development of a solid faith in Christ and in his redemptive work and as a result you will have a life of commitment, service to the church and your community, with Christ exalted through your life and the Father glorified.

  • Understanding the Scriptures about the sacraments and being able to teach and impart them to the congregation (Holy Supper, Baptism of adults and children of believing parents).
